Yet Another Delay on the A835 Check Rail Corner Repair

Garve and District Community Council

Added at 11:00 on 28 October 2025

Having heard nothing from Bear Scotland since August on the long awaited repair on the A835 - Check Rail Corner by Loch Garve we have chased for an update.
We have learned that there is yet another delay!  Email from Bear Scotland - pasted verbeitum below.

"We have completed our tender phase and are moving to appoint a Contractor. Unfortunately we will not be able to meet our previous date of 7th November and are now aiming for late November/early December to commence enabling works on site before Christmas. I will be sure to keep you updated as things progress into next week. Regarding traffic management, as you know we have the temporary barrier and traffic lights in place at present and are not planning any major changes in that regard. However again, I will keep you updated on start dates etc.

Major works will be required to replace the approx. 100m length of existing wall supporting the road. We are estimating a 6 month construction programme to achieve this."

Readers will remember we were actually told work would begin on 10th November rather that the 7th as mentioned in today's email recieved.
