Thanks to the intervention of our MSP Maree Todd, yesterday we recieved an update on the long outstanding repair that is required along the A835 known locally as Check Rail Corner.
That stretch of the A835 has been down to one lane with temporary traffic lights in place since January 2024!
"BEAR Scotland, has confirmed that rail possessions have now been agreed with Network Rail. These are required to create a safe working environment, ensuring there will be no conflict with trains. As a result, much of the work will be undertaken at night.
Work is scheduled to commence on site during the week beginning 10 November 2025, with completion anticipated in early May 2026. Temporary traffic management measures will be in place for the duration of the works.
BEAR Scotland has advised that works will pause over the Christmas and New Year period. During this time, the site will be regularly inspected to ensure it remains in a safe condition. While the programme has accounted for winter conditions, it could be affected by adverse weather or storms that may occur during the winter months."
We will keep you update as and when we hear more.
