Project Update – Commencement of Hand Pit Works along the Western Isles HVDC Link Mainland Cable Route –
Starting Wednesday, 11 March 2026
We would like to notify the local community that bell mouth construction activities will soon begin at several points along the cable route. These works are essential to ensure safe and efficient access for upcoming project operations.
To minimise disruption, only traffic cones will be placed at the roadside; no additional traffic management measures are planned at this stage. We are committed to keeping any inconvenience to a minimum throughout the process.
The locations identified for these works are: APT9, APT10, APT8, APT13B, APT11, APT12, APT14, APT29, and APT30, as shown on the linked maps below. At each site, two operatives will excavate hand pits to locate and assess buried services.
