We have recieved the following update this morning on the Western Isle HVDC Link accompanied by another super detailed map from SSE 🙃
"Access Point works (bell mouth creation/re-surfacing works) – 8 June planned for 4-6 weeks
Construction works to facilitate access to the WI HVDC Link Mainland Cable corridor, inclusive of tree felling, vegetation removal, bell mouth creation & resurfacing works are planned to being on the 8 June 2026. Works will take place in the Garve area, on the U3131 to the south-east of Little Garve as shown in the map attached.
Works are due to take place during daytime hours, Monday to Friday. During this period, there may be an increase in construction traffic on the U3131. Temporary traffic management may be required at certain stages of the works, using ‘Stop and Go’ boards to ensure the safety of road users and front-line workers. This may result in short delays.
Access for emergency services will be maintained throughout, and traffic management will only be used where necessary to support safe working.
We will aim to keep local residents informed and minimise disruption where possible. If you have any queries, please contact the project team on lt14mainlandcable@sse.com.
