Garve is set to welcome an uplifting event of music, food, and friendship as part of a new free community tour travelling across Scotland this autumn.
On Wednesday 1st October 2025, Garve Public Hall will host the Highland stop of the Galloway Gathering Tour, a project created to bring people together while tackling loneliness and food insecurity. Running from 5–7pm, the event will feature live music, warm meals, and the chance for local residents to connect with one another in a welcoming setting.
Leading the music is the much-loved Anna Massie, a talented multi-instrumentalist and host of BBC Radio Scotland’s award-winning Travelling Folk. Known for her lively performances, Anna will provide the perfect soundtrack to an evening that blends community spirit with delicious, hearty food.
Guests will be treated to a free meal made with Galloway Cheddar, the tour’s sponsor and Scotland’s best-known cheddar brand. This initiative is part of the wider Galloway Gathering Project, which works in partnership with the food redistribution charity FareShare. So far this year, the project has helped provide the equivalent of 90,000 meals for people in need across Scotland.
Speaking about the tour, Heloise Le Norcy-Trott, Marketing Director at Lactalis UK & Ireland, said:
“With the Galloway Gathering Tour, we want to create moments of joy and togetherness across Scotland. It’s all about communities coming together to enjoy good company, music, and food – and we’re delighted Garve is part of the journey.”
Anna Massie added:
“The tour brings together some of the best things in life: company, craic, and cheese! I’m thrilled to be part of this project, helping neighbours share music and meals as the evenings get darker.”
The Garve event is the first stop on the tour, which will also visit Aberdeenshire, Stirling, and Dumfries & Galloway later in October.
