SCOTTISH TRUNK ROAD NETWORK MANAGEMENT CONTRACT – NORTH WEST UNIT
A835 100 Inchbae Bridge Deck Refurbishment
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland are planning to carry out essential bridge maintenance works on the A835, at Inchbae near Garve, from Monday 29 September for approximately 7 weeks. Works are being carried out to repair underlying issues with defective concrete on the bridge deck and in addition the works will include the replacement of all bridge deck waterproofing, road surfacing, road markings, and the installation of new expansion joints.
In order to minimise disruption, the carriageway will be temporarily widened. The construction of a temporary running surface in the verges of the bridge will enable the A835 trunk road to remain open throughout the duration of these works, avoiding the need for road closures and diversion routes.
Inchbae bridge is located approximately 6 miles north of Garve and carries the A835 single carriageway over the Abhainn Strath Ranich watercourse. Please find enclosed a location plan for clarity.
Working hours will generally be between 08:00 and 18:00 each day, with a continuous 24-hour single lane closure with traffic controlled via two-way temporary traffic lights. For the safety of workers and road users, a 30-mph speed limit will be in place for the duration of the works. Some instances of convoy traffic management with a 10-mph speed limit will be required to provide extra protection to the workforce. The duration of the works is weather dependant, and as a result, the proposed dates may change.
Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained at all times.
I trust this helps to explain the nature of the project and the efforts being made to manage any disruption.
If you require any further information or would like to comment on any of the proposed works please do not hesitate to contact us by email at nwcorrespondence@bearscotland.co.uk
Yours faithfully,
NW Consultation
