"Please see below the most recent update for the Western Isles HVDC Link Project:
RJM will shortly be carrying out essential service verification works within the local area. Following confirmation of the final plant requirements, the works are now expected to commence on 27 April 2026. These checks form part of routine pre‑construction activities to confirm the position and depth of existing underground utilities.
It has been confirmed that a small excavator is required for these works. There will be two to three operatives on site, along with a supervisor, at each location. Temporary stop and go boards will be used where required to safely manage traffic.
The works will take place at selected locations, which are shown on a map in the documents section on the project web page. The excavations are minor and controlled, and all areas will be fully reinstated once the works are complete.
This update has been issued following confirmation of final details with our contractors, to ensure that we are providing an accurate overview of the locations due to undergo these works. The dates below are indicative and may change slightly depending on how the works progress and on-site conditions.
